I used to build new construction fireplaces and chimneys back in the 70s. Once a general contractor, I found a void concerning people that are knowledgeable about the components of a chimney and fireplace.
Now I'm Sole Proprietor of "Matson Chimney and Fireplace Restoration." I Love the business and will offer films as I go, project at a time. If you like me, subscribe, if you don't, who asked ya. I Hope you enjoy my vids and find them useful:)

United States
Occupation:
Sole Proprietor

Interests:
I trained as a powerlifter in the 80s. Bench, squat and deadlift. (1250# in 3 events) I was a tournament fighter with Young Brothers Tae-Kwon-Do in the 90s. I have trophies from open and closed tournaments. I liked sparring with other styles, as I saw them as nonoffensive. I wasn't concerned about sparring with anyone, except another Tae-Kwon-Doist.
Movies:
Saving Private Ryan. I saw the movie, then read the book, then rented the movie. The rock opera TOMMY. The 3 Stooges...BEFORE Curly Joe. Tolkeins movie trilogy is the greatest gift to cinema, ever.

Everything but rap, which isn't a legitimate genre in the first place.
Books:
I read everything Tolkein wrote before it was cool, including the Silmarillian.

This helps show you how unsophisticated the process is. Don't be shy, you'll never get done.

I am going to build a brand new brick chimney from the very start. How thick of a concrete footer do I need to support this chimney that will be about 20 feet high. I'm in western Pa, so I think the frost line is 36 inches, but I need advice on the footer. thanks
