Glad to have lived thru the 20's 30's and 40's....The Miller Sound evolved, and improved so much thru the early 1940's. As a pilot during the WAR, his music kept home and loved ones close. Now, at 90, I still thrill to that sound....

A brand new Bluebird record was 35 cents in 1939. It was one of the first new records that I bought. I was earning 45 cents an hour working for the Department of Agriculture as a runner, and a penny was worth a penny in those days

I never flew the B-17, I did fly the B-25, the same aircraft that Jimmy Dolittle flew off the carrier to bomb Japan in early 1942. Also flew the B-29, the C-47, C-46 and even the P-51...(after the war while in the ready reserve). Those were some planes, and it was an honor to have been allowe...

This song came out the year I graduated from high school... Fond memories of the great Miller Sound, with Ray Eberle. Lots of war ahead of us.

Thank God I grew up before having to listen to such filthy talk from folks. Our cuss words were "heck" "shoot" and "darn" ....I now have great grands and they talk clean.

Why are there so many filthy mouthed people around. In WWII even the G.I's kept most of their filth to themselves.

Another great Bluebird production,,, My first Bluebird was Moonlight Serenade, backed up by Sunrise Serenade.. .35 cents total, no tax, 1939. I had to play it on a Victrola wind up , no electronics. Played the records until the sound tracks were white.....

This is another of Miller's pre WWII recordings, with the sax/clarinet backup of Ray Eberle that makes such a beautiful, memorable song. Went off to WWII with echoes of Miller's music keeping me company. He never made it to our bomb group, but I talked to lots of guys who saw his AF orchestra ...
