@trufuknplaya it has to do with whether or not the b or v sound is a meaningful phoneme. if they both code for the same thing in your brain, then you wont be able to 'hear' the difference in a meaningful way.
it's not a trick. humans use both their ears and their eyes to interpret someone's speech!
