About The Arc of San Francisco
The Arc of San Francisco was founded in 1951 by parents concerned about the lack of services for their sons and daughters with developmental disabilities. We currently serve a very diverse group of over 550 clients, many of whom are people with cognitive disabilities, others with cerebral palsy or Down syndrome, and a significant number of people with autism. Despite their diverse backgrounds, ages and disabilities, all are similar in their desire to live a life of greater self-determination, dignity and quality.
Our goal is to provide the services, supports and resources that enable people with developmental disabilities to maximize their potential and live ordinary lives, hold interesting jobs, earn steady paychecks and become integral members of the community.
