About this user

I have been in the aquarium hobby since 2003. I started with freshwater but since 2008 have been running salt water systems only.

Tank: Currently I have a 120 gallon tank with dual overflow boxes. The tank is 4ft wide x 2ft tall x 2ft deep. I use a glass top to reduce evaporation and prevent finding my fish friends dried/dead on the floor.

Filter: 120lbs of Jakarta live rock and a 30 gallon sump utilizing a coralife superskimmer. Although, I have a brand new Vertex In-180 skimmer waiting to be installed once I upgrade to a sump refugium within the next few weeks. I am deciding between the Aqueon ProFlex Sump Model 4 vs Eshopps R-300, or even having a custom one built. I also use my coralife UV sterilizer from time to time.

Lighting: BELIZE SUN - 4 FT Metal Halide + High Output T5 + LED Lighting System. I use 250 watt HQI 14k Bulbs.

Circulation: Water is returned to the tank via dual Lifegard Aquatics Quiet One 4000 Water Pumps, and flow in the tank managed by dual Hydor Koralia Evolution Powerheads. My goal is to remove the Koralia powerheads and add the far superior yet pricey Ecotech Marine VorTech MP40w ES Water Pump. Due to the cost I have to wait for this.
