5 Questions With Rosi Golan
Israeli-born songstress Rosi Golan dropped by The Recording Academy headquarters in Santa Monica, Calif., on Aug. 3 for a three-song acoustic set and an installment of The Academy's new 5 Questions With... series.
Golan answered questions regarding her biggest career moments thus far, the importance of social media, artists she is currently listening to, mentors and musical influences, and the songwriting process.
In describing her songwriting process, Golan said, "It's different every time I write a song. I think sometimes I get an idea walking down the street.... Sometimes the lyric comes first, sometimes the melody. But I always find at the end of the day, no matter what, the songs usually reflect something that is going on in my life."
Showcasing her gentle melodies and alluring voice, Golan's debut album, The Drifter & The Gypsy, was released in 2008. The album yielded impressive placement across various media with songs appearing in television programs such as "Brothers & Sisters," "Ghost Whisperer," "One Tree Hill," and "Private Practice," and the film Dear John. Additionally, her song "Shine" was used for an international Pantene ad campaign while "Follow The Arrow" was used in conjunction with JCPenney's 2009 holiday ad campaign.
