About this user

Jinx currently resides in California creating Whimsically Dark Art. Her artwork ranges from cartoony to realistic, in a variety of mediums. Most
of her oils paintings are either big projects or highly detailed images. She uses acrylics for a more immediate satisfaction. Acrylic paint can
portray plastic toys very nicely. Watercolors and colored pencils are used for sketches and simple paintings.
Jinx is a resident artist at the Hive Gallery and Studios in downtown Los Angeles. Its a great space for her to work on projects without
interruptions. She is currently working on a big clown portrait project.
Growing up in the Midwest she watched lots of cartoons and horror movies, along with any art instructional shows that were on (including, of
course, Bob Ross). She later developed an interest in the medical field, watching doctor and surgery shows. Today you can see the influence these
types of shows have had on her artwork. She enjoys getting a mixed
emotional response from her viewers.

After graduating from UW-Milwaukee with a Bachelors degree in Fine Arts she moved to the warmer weather of California. Since then she has shown in the Los Angeles area, Hollywood, Santa Barbara, Orange, Long Beach (solo show in 2008), Florida, North Carolina, and Australia.
Jinx is usually at the Hive on Thursdays painting away upstairs. During the monthly Artwalk feel free to ask her to show you her work. From Death Flowers and Zombies to Candy Bats and skulls. Always artwork to enjoy.
