Tommy Renfro is a little bit of old mixed with a fresh anointing of praise. Born and raised in the cornfields of southwest Ohio, this 26year-old singer/songwriter has dabbled in everything from Christian rock to Southern Gospel and has found a new balance of music expressed in his upcoming album titled Til They Ask Why. It's not the pop country overtone that will make you hit repeat on your ipod, but rather the message of Christ shinning brightly through this hip new sound.

Tommy's journey into the ministry started at age 12 when he began singing specials at church. In 1999, at 14 years old, Tommy started singing with a Christian rock group called Tidal Wave. This stint with the wave lasted until 2004 and included performances all over the Midwest from stadiums to Christian radio and TV programs.

Like all great things this Tidal Wave had to crash into the shore. Life happened, people grew up and moved away. In 2004 Tommy entered into a new season in his life. A new solo career brought a new sound. This new sound migrated away from the Pillar and Skillet era of Tommy's musical career, which led him into a complete 180-degree turn. On the flip side of this 180-degree turn were Tommy's roots in Southern Gospel music.

Between 2004 and 2010 Tommy recorded five Southern Gospel influenced albums. He has sung at festivals, fairs, churches, coffeehouses, and many other venues with gospel music stars such as: The Blackwoods, Young Harmony, The Browders, The Martins, The Collingsworth Family, Skyline Boyz, HisSong and hundreds of others. Now it's time to start yet another chapter. Tommy is combining the Christian Rock era of his life with his passion for Southern Gospel music to create a music experience that will bless all who hear it.

There is no real way to describe the gift that the Lord has blessed Tommy with. However there is a good word, ANOINTED. "There are thousands of great singers," Tommy explained, "but there are only a few in the world who obey the Lord and follow His spirit. If I couldn't sing at all, I could still obey the Lord."

That is what Tommy does, he obeys the Lord and the blessings continue to flow. Weather it's a huge arena or a church with 50 people, it's always the same. Because as Tommy often states, "It's not about me, it's about His glory."
