About this user

T. Foley is an award-winning artist living and working in Pittsburgh, PA. Her films and videos have been shown nationally and internationally. Of her work, one critic wrote, "There's a zany quality to video artist T. Foley's work that seduces viewers to consider the social issues and observations that inspire it."

Foley has been the recipient of fellowships from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, the Pittsburgh Foundation and from the IDEAS Institute (a program within the Lifelong Kindergarten Group at MIT's Media Laboratory). Interested in issues of voice and representation (of race, class, and gender) in commercial media, Foley earns her living by creating and conducting media production and analysis educational experiences for children and adults. She's worked with non-profit media arts centers and programs like Pittsburgh Filmmakers, the Taos Talking Picture Festival and GirlsFilmSchool in New Mexico, and the True/False Film Festival in Columbia, MO. Foley is also a sought-after presenter and public speaker. Her most popular and high-spirited multimedia presentation, "Betty Boop Is A Dog/Cartman's Mom Is A Dirty Slut," has been shared with audiences in Texas, New York, New Mexico and Pennsylvania. She is currently a media education consultant and artist in residence at Pittsburgh Filmmakers.
