Although I understand the point you are trying to make, I think you cheapen your argument by bringing up points that bear no relevance or importance on the subject.

The reason you feel there is no revolution coming goes beyond reality television and McDonalds. Neither has such a profound effect that it would stop a revolution. There are many larger and more important reasons contributing to the possibility of no revolution. One such reason is the ways our news is filters. I believe in the model Chomsky and Herman introduced in their book, Manufacturing Consent. I believe their work is still relevant today. It's highly critical of how we receive of mass media news outlets and how easily our news is shaped based on varying factors rather than giving a realistic picture of what's happening. If people are not aware of some situations because they are not being reported on, and reading the ones that are effected by varying outside influences,then it would be hard to form any sort of revolution.

And although there hasn't been anything as large as a full-scale revolution in the past hundred years in North American society, there have been many instances where people have risen up and broke free of the norm. This has led to the formation of unions, women's rights, and the end of racial segregation. I feel as if more faith needs to be put into humanity. (less info)
