I started doing stop motion animation when I was about 12 years old. My grandfather had these old camcorders, which my brother and I used to make legomations. The problem was that every time you took a frame with the camera, it would rewind the tape slightly. This made it really difficult to animate, because you would have to animate all the frames in reverse order (because of the rewind feature) in order for the camera's playback to be in sequence. We didn't have any computer software either, so we would watch our creations on the camera's video screen.

It wasn't until 2003, when my brother bought his own video camera and video software (Adobe Premiere) that I experimented with my first animation (look it up in my videos). In the mean time, my brother had familiarized himself with the 3D animation software: 3D Studio Max and he made a film, which was shown at a local high school competition called "The Charlie Awards". Since my brother and I went to different high schools, he encouraged me to also make a film and enter it though my school. This is where I produced the short "Little Bits", my first animation with a plot! I was in grade 10 at the time, and since coming in the "Top Three" category and actually getting prize money, I entered the same contest for the next two years of high school.

After graduateding high school, I tried making more stop motion films, but really didn't have the time or motivation to complete any of them, and never got past shooting the first few scenes. However, after seeing a stop motion film on YouTube, where a face made of beads ate another face made of beads (I really wish I could find that film again), I decided to start making really short animations. I came home around 11:30 from working at Tim Hortons one night and stayed up until 3 am making "Really Real" on the bottom shelf of my night stand. I really enjoyed the end result, finding it both mystical and disturbing and have kept making short animations, having since made over 50 more animations!

Currently, I am a Business Administration student at Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, Ontario, but still try to animate from time to time. I am really trying to work on the smoothness and creativity of my animations.
