Ed Kruczynski first got inspired to sing when the sister of one of his childhood friends was selected to appear on a long-running local TV show called Community Auditions on Boston's WBZ-TV back in 1976. In September of the following year, Ed joined the choir of his hometown church, and as he was sometimes the only tenor available, he would sing the tenor section parts choir's anthems as solos. The following summer, he was asked to sing a solo during one of the worship services.

After enrolling as a student at the School of the Worcester Art Museum, one of Ed's fellow students invited him to John Henry's Hammer, a folk music coffeehouse in nearby Worcester, Massachusetts, and at one point Ed began singing and ad-libbing to the audience during the open sets. He also was hosting a pre-recorded half-hour radio show in those days, and when it went "live" in 1981, so did his solos. And an entertainer was born!

Two years later, Ed decided to try his hand at acting and was cast in no fewer than four roles by the Gateway Players of Southbridge, Massachusetts in Annie. Ed portrayed Drake, the British butler of Oliver "Daddy" Warbucks, Jimmy Johnson ("Radio's Only Masked Announcer"), one of the Hoovervillites, and he also appeared as one of the strollers behind Warbucks & Annie during their duet, "N.Y.C."

Following this, Ed appeared as a soloist and actor in the annual dinner theatre productions of the Phoenix Players, the theatre group of his new church, First Baptist Church in Worcester, where Ed also sang in the classical music group, The Chancel Choir, which was directed by Yale School of Music graduate Barclay "Barry" Wood. The Chancel Choir sang at all of the worship services and also performed an annual spring concert.

Returning to college for his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1985, Ed changed his major from Philosophy to Media because it better reflected his interests, and as part of his Media work, he studied acting with Dr. Ann Marie Shea, who subsequently cast him as the publisher in the Tina Howe comedy, The Art of Dining, in the spring of 1987.

After marrying the former Carolyn (Hannan) Martin in October 1988 and relocating to a different state, Ed spent 5 years working evenings at a group residence in Concord, New Hampshire. But after he changed careers, his acting and singing activities gradually increased. He acted with the Community Players of Concord starting in 1996, and the following year he performed for the first time in an Italian opera. He sang his first operatic principal role in 1999, and he performed in operatic ensemble roles in 2005, 2006, 2008, and 2009. Numerous other community theatre productions followed for Ed too.

Utilizing experience gained with the Chancel Choir, Ed auditioned for the Boston Pops Holiday Chorus in November 2003 and was selected as one of the tenors for the upcoming northeast tour of the famed Holiday Pops Concerts. Keith Lockhart conducted the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra and the Holiday Chorus--including Ed--various major venues in the northeastern U.S.A. for audiences that averaged 10,000 people for each performance. Ed performed with the Pops again the following December.

Returning to operatic singing in 2005 with Granite State Opera, a professional company based in New Hampshire, Ed made contacts that led to his singing in Gerrman for the first time in performances of Brahms' Ein Deusches Requiem (A German Requiem) with the New World Chorale in 2006 and with the Paul Madore Chorale in 2007. And then in December 2007 he made his solo oratorio debut when he sang Handel's Messiah with a group in Mont Vernon, New Hampshire.
