Sacramento native Claire Karoly has a passion for early music, especially baroque music. She trains with Eric Morris, lead tenor of the a cappella quartet The EDLOS, at Notre Dame de Namur University, where she is currently in her third year. Claire first discovered a love for singing as a chorister in an Episcopalian school, and later joined her church choir, high school chamber choir, and college choir. While Claire is a very eclectic individual, with interests in many disciplines, her experiences and wisdom taught her that one of the most important things in life is to follow one's true essence, which in her case is to study and perform music. As a student, Claire returned to her roots, reviving a love for sacred music and oratorio, and discovered other works from the Baroque era that continue to excite her. However, she remains open-minded, studying other forms of music as well, such as 20th century music. She hopes to eventually forge a career as a mezzo-soprano specializing in early music; for now, she continues to explore and grow.
