    Portuguese Stickfighting JOGO DO PAU

    mixed by yours truly.

    temmy9 temmy9 commented:

    @bostafffighter Yes they do. There are many many many forms of wrestling, and grappling techniques are totally into weapon use. Just look up harnischfechten for an example.

    And boxers kick ass in weaponless combat.

    Some Longsword Bouts between our guest from Chicago, Theresa Wendland, and some Hammaborgers

    @bigpeteswackshack actually you can. Fiore Dei Liberi demonstrated it in his manuscript. He fought at least five lethal duels, fought in war, was the weapon master for a prominent italian noble and trained men for judicial duels to the death. What is your evidence to the contrary?

    I've been doing this in my own training. Works very well and is consistent with other sword arts. standing on the ball of the feet and raising the heel also allows you to provide extra push into the hips if you want to make a cut without a passing step.

    @devoidchess No they were not. Swords are meant to cut flesh, not steel. Euro swords that were intended for cutting cut just as well as a Katana. You do not use a sword to cut armour, period.

    temmy9 temmy9 commented:

    @itstheblueguy

    That video has a guy who knows nothing about swords using two wallhangers, The longsword is of poor quality and too springy, whereas the Katana was a 'Katana shaped object". Both are cheap mass produced replicas and hardly proper representatives of their weapons.

    temmy9 temmy9 commented:

    Twirling a double edged sword is a bad idea in any case, because you can easily cut yourself. With swords, cuts naturally move from a guard to another guard with no extra movement.

    That being said, the european masters advocated constant movement and switching of guards rather like a boxer.

    Dillman explains chi KO nullification
