Today we are learning how to manage your workout training schedule. Having a workout schedule is important because it will help you become your own online soccer manager and help you better manage your training schedules.
Description: Part of being a good pro is learning how to manage your time. You have training, school, social life, family time, etc. The excuse "I'm just so busy" doesn't cut it when it comes to achieving your goals.
First and foremost if you are a youth player watching your school and academics come first, then soccer.
I'm not saying you should come home from school and study all afternoon and night because that's not realistic. You need a break from school the same way you need a break from soccer.
Part of what we do at my other company http://www.Colleg... is teaching our athletes time management. That is what I am going to teach you to do. How to manage your training schedule using a calendar!!
Key Points: 1. Set up a Google Calendar. It's free with a Gmail email address. Go to http://www.Gmail.com to set one up. If you don't want to do use a Google Calendar that's fine, use whatever calendar you prefer. I recommend all my athletes and players use Google Calendars.
2. Input in your calendar all your school, social and family events. Like a math test on Friday, a hot date on Saturday, etc. Then put in all your team soccer events. Like practice on Tuesday and Thursdays from 7-8:30pm. Include your games on the weekends too.
3. Now put in your personal training and homework schedule. The training you do on your own or with a friend is going to be the biggest thing competing against your homework time. A typical training day for you could be come home from school at 3pm, grab a snack, relax a bit. Train from 4:30pm -- 6pm, then shower, eat, have family time and do homework from 7-9pm. Input these training hours and homework time in your calendar each week. This is called time management. Now you won't stress when you will train and when you will do homework, you will have it planned out at the start of every week.
4. Google calendar has a nice repeat function! Use it! So for example if you are going to train 5 days in a row from 4-5pm don't put that in your calendar five times. Put it in once, hit the repeat option and then select that event to repeat 5 times in a row. Try it out, the feature is awesome!
Things to Note: If you know you are going to have a big math test on Friday and it's in your calendar, then maybe do a shorter training time on Thursday and a longer study time. You plan accordingly based on your school work.
Schedule off days too so you can get physical and mental rest! Pros don't usually train 7 days in a row! They take at least one day off a week. You should too!
What Player Could Be Doing Wrong: If you can't find time for training because you are to busy then you are not managing your time correctly. If your goal is to improve and play soccer at the next level, whether that's high school, college or pro, you need to make time for training! Use a calendar; it will make your life easier!
Bonus Tip! Google Calendar has a cool reminders feature! When you set up an event on your calendar you will see it. Your calendar will email you when you have something coming up if you want it too. Let's say you have a math test on Friday and you don't want to forget it. You create a reminder and a few days prior to the test your Google Calendar will email you a reminder that your test is coming up!
Winners have great time management! Use a calendar, manage your time wisely and be a winner!
