Smoke has tons of tools to beat Sub-Zero. Shake prevents ice spam. Smoke bomb comes out faster than ice ball. Smoke towards goes through ice balls and ice clones. It's just altogether a bad match up for Sub-Zero. Lucky for you, that Smoke sucked balls and had no patience.
