About Teaching Bible Channel

Landis Fisher & Straight Gate Ministries, teaching the Bible, the whole Bible, & nothing but the Bible - Praise God for His Holy Word!!!!!!! I met Landis when he branched out from his home church (Mount Herald Missionary Baptist Church I believe?) to start a church with Mission Gate Prison Ministry, downtown on the north side of Saint Louis in the old Salvation Army church building in the 1400 block of Sullivan. It was in the middle of a Friday night and into the early morning hours of Saturday, as I was called on to help transport pews across the north side of downtown Saint Louis from a storage building to the church (the church that had just left the building took the pews with them), so he could start the church.

Landis Fisher has been faithfully serving the Lord and teaching His word for years now. I was amazed at how the Holy Spirit of God used him and brought verses to his rememberance from his photographic memory as he expounded the Truth from God's Word. I watched him tirelessly serve at that church where you could find him almost every day of the week (Wednesday - mid week Bible Stiudy, Thursday - Worship - rehearsals, Friday - Angel Club, Saturday - cleaning the church, Sunday - teaching & preaching, etc., etc. etc.) even though he had a wife and kids and grandchildren and worked full time - and still found time to teach at his old church and at the city and other jails (Hall Street, Workhouse, etc.) and the homeless shelters (Sunshine Mission, etc.). He also spent much of his free time working on the church (He is basically the worship leader, sound man, janitor, maintenance man, not to mention pastor & teacher, etc.) and trying to start ways for the poor and needy and former inmates to help them start a new life with job training, education etc. (he helped build a computer room at his old church). I remember going to the dedication of the church (the day after the pews) and being wowed and ushered into the Lord's presence as Landis and 4 other pastors sand together on "Come and Go to That land". I remember following him around St. Louis to other churches where he filled in for Bible Studies and to homeless shelters to hear him preach, just because he really taught the Word of God in Truth, which I was beginning to realize, even as a new Christian, was sadly lacking in most all of the dozens and dozens of churches and ministries I had (& have)attended. I was at his first Bible study, where he dove right in to the issue of speaking of tongues and the baptism of the Holy Spirit and dare to teach the Truth and watched as 80 to 90 percent of the people who attended got upset and vowed to not come back & started there own Bible study down the street. Then there are his musical talents. he sings, plays guitar, plays piano, (actually I think I've seem him play a half dozen other instruments also). He currently is in a Christian Band call "Freinds of Jesus". Later I started attended his church (Mission Gate Prison Ministry's - Shepherd's Chapel - Church of the Word (the last part added by Landis for emphasis as I recall), when I was asked to help drive all the children from the "Angel Club" (on Friday) from all over North & South St. Louis - so they could start attending the church on Sunday morning also. This later led to my being led by the Lord to join Shepherd's Chapel (this was still a hard decision for me - although I never even made it to my home church "Saint's Fellowship" anymore - I had quit attending St. Louis Family Chiurch & Church on the Rock, where I used to go on off nights long before also). When a moved away from St. Louis, Missouri (back to my hometown of Kansas City, Missouri), I had a void ever after from lack of true teaching and preaching and expounding of God's Holy Word, the Bible so much after I questioned (still do) if I had done the Lord's will or not in so doing ( I have now finally filled that void after getting married, moving to my wife's home town in Kailua / Honolulu / Oahu, Hawaii & starting to attend services and Calvary Chapel where they simply teach the Bible simply - I go to Calvary Chapel of Kaneohe now - btw). On my recent visit back to St. Louis, (10 years later now) I was so happy and blessed by the Lord to see Landis still faithfully and tirelessly preaching and teaching the Truth, God's Holy Word the Holy Bible still all over St. Louis in halls and jails and homeless shelters. Taking all the equipment in & out himself, setting it up himself, running it all himself, playing music, playing guitar, playing piano, singing, leading worship himself, leading prayer, reading, teaching preaching and expounding the Word of God!!! (as he still raises the family and works full time & cared for his wife who had cancer and has now recently departed to be with the Lord)! God has truly blessed this man to keep faithfully teaching and lifting up Jesus and taking him over every obstacle for so many years. I'm telling you all this, because it is such a testimony to God's faithfullness and because Landis never would (and I hope he will not be too upset when he finds out).
