Ronnie Rice - Come Back Little Girl 1963
This is an early release on the IRC label by Ronnie Rice of the New Colony Six fame.
I grew up with this record! We got this 45 from a friend of my older brothers (they're twins) whose dad (Carl Osling, Sr) played bass on this session. We were living in Park Ridge, Illinois at the time (1962).
I love this recording. I still have this disc, but it is very, very worn.

I rarely like it when someone does a Buddy Holly cover, mostly because they just aren't anywhere near the original. However, I really appreciate this version. It is very faithful to the original yet shows enough originality. Bravo from a true lifelong BH fan.

This song coupled with I'm Gonna Love You Too is one of Buddy's finest "singles" (kind of an oxymoron to call it a single, huh?). I have this version on the orange label 45. Thanks for sharing the 78.

I was in San Jose yesterday and happened upon a music store. They had a 1959 Stratocaster (yes, an original -- not a copy or reissue). The sales guy asked me if I wanted to play it. Of course I said, "Sure".
It was very cool. I own a '73, which plays very well, but the '59 with a maple neck i...

Just a suggestion: switch to flat wound strings, and then use a Fender medium pick. That's how Joe Osborn did it back in the day. In fact, all the great bass players of the 60s (James Jamerson, Joe Osborn, Paul McCartney) used flat wounds. They play and sound sound much better!
