About this user

I am a teacher of modern foreign languages (currently German, Spanish, French and TEFL) and maths (to advanced level only).

After university graduation in 2004, I enrolled on a teacher training course where I witnessed, prior to my taking over of classes, a decreasing number of attendees and an overall poor quality of language teaching, which focused almost exclusively on writing, as opposed to the natural development of spoken skills.

For too long, schools and colleges within mainstream education have focused on traditional methods of language teaching and taken a topic-based approach which does not enable learners to understand the workings of a language. This, coupled with the fact that the New Labour government of the United Kingdom had decided in 2005 to make language learning no longer compulsory in secondary education, induced me to set up a company, Lingua Genesis Ltd, which, like many other private language schools, has successfully promoted a string of brand new and innovative approaches to this particular field.

Since the year subsequent to its founding, Lingua Genesis Ltd has offered five annual awards to individuals who have motivated, inspired or associated with the school, expounding or directly sharing their beliefs in a unique area of language learning or business promotion which has helped to shape and strengthen the convictions of Lingua Genesis Ltd. The award winners to date are Mike Zollo, Judith Schofield, Henry Page, Neil Kolby and Alexander Arguelles.

In addition to being a teacher and a translator whose services are only sought on a few occasions each year, I am also a studying hyperpolyglot, the influence for which I owe to Steve Kaufmann and Richard Simcott.

I am a member of the National Union of Teacher (NUT) and was formerly affiliated to the Verein der Deutschen Sprache (VDS) until May 2009.

Lingua Genesis Ltd always welcomes anyone who wishes to liaise with the company or carry out language or other subject tuition on behalf of the company. It has been recruiting staff since early 2010 and will continue to do so until the winter of 2011.
