Pittsburg State University - Outside of Grubbs Hall Talis29 - 7 views - 1 week ago
I apologize for how shaky the video is. This video is taken outside of Grubbs Hall, straight down from the library, on the Pittstate campus.

Pittsburg State University - Weede / John Lance Arena Talis29 - 4 views - 1 week ago
This used to be the only place on campus where students could exercise. The Weede (as everyone here calls it) houses a swimming pool, a basketball court (which is also used for indoor volley ball), racket ball rooms, a weight room, a few cardio exercise machines, and some other things. Today, the swimming pool is probably used the most by the general student population. The new Recreation Center is now used for weight lifting and cardio exercise, but you can come to the Weede for that if you want to.

These videos are old. Bushes have been added outside near the parking lot to make the area look better. I hope to get some new video soon.

Pittsburg State University Library Talis29 - 10 views - 1 week ago
The library on the campus of Pittsburg State University.

Our small town bus makes an appearance in this video, as does a campus police car (they frequently drive around campus). Students can ride the bus for free. Just show the driver your student ID card when you board the bus. You can board the bus free of charge with your student ID card from any location that it stops in Pittsburg.

Our town is small enough that it is practical to use a bicycle to go from the campus to Ron's IGA (a food store) or to the mall, which is right next to Ron's. However, you will want to use the bus or get a ride from a friend when going to Wal-Mart, or to go to any store during the winter. Ron's is more expensive than Wal-Mart, so it is common to go to Wal-Mart instead, even to buy food.

Standard Explanation & Disclaimer:

This video is a part of a collection of videos that serve as a visual tour around the campus of Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, Kansas. These are not intended to be professional videos, and they are a personal project, not a project that PSU is aware of in any way.

These videos are for exchange students and prospective exchange students so that they can show their friends what the campus looks like, or see for themselves before they arrive.

Please note that I can not enter the dorms so I can not show you the rooms. This is because you need a key or a numerical combination to get into the buildings, and since I do not live in the dorms I do not have either of these.

Nell (넬) - It's OK (English Subtitles / HQ) kelseywall - 23,353 views - 9 months ago
Nell (넬) is a South Korean indie rock band, named after an Academy Award nominated film, Nell. Formed in 1999, the band consists of Kim Jong-wan on vocals, guitar and keyboard, Lee Jae-kyung on lead guitar, Lee Jung-hoon on bass guitar and Jung Jae-won on drum.

While performing at live clubs in Hongdae, they were picked up by Seo Tai-ji, and soon became the first band of Goesoo Indigene record label in 2002. In 2006, the band decided to finish their contract with Goesoo Indigene and they are currently signed with WOOLLIM Entertainment.

The band is heavily influenced by numerous British bands such as Radiohead, Placebo, Travis, and Muse. They also performed number of covers of Muse, Coldplay, Sting, and Bob Dylan during their gigs.

Nell has participated in both 2006 and 2007 Pentaport Rock Festival of South Korea, where Placebo and Muse also performed each year.

The band is known for their gloomy and psychedelic sound, and gained their fame with tracks like Stay from Let It Rain, Thank You from Walk Through Me, "Good Night" from Healing Process and 기억을 걷는 시간 from Separation Anxiety. Their 2006 album 'Healing Process' was chosen as one of five best recordings of the year among critics of South Korea. Nell's 2008 album "Separation Anxiety" was a hit in South Korea, ranking No.1 in various album charts.

Kimchi, Bulgogi, and other Korean Foods (Korean Culture Day) Talis29 - 93 views - 3 months ago
This is a quick video that I took "yesterday", April 4th 2009 after the Korean Culture Day event at Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, Kansas.

After the KCD event, which was approximately 1 hour long, we walked a short distance to a church where the Koreans on campus had been cooking up some down right delicious food. The KCD event itself was free, but dinner (an "all you can eat" buffet) was $6. I was fortunate enough to be invited to the dinner so was able to skip the door charge, but it was well worth the six bucks!

Unfortunately I don't know the names of the noodles and the other.. things. :) We had kimchi (김치), bulgogi (불고기), rice (빱), and the other unknown but equally delicious food.

Obviously this video was a quick pass over the food and was not meant to be some fantastic documentary.

Many thanks to our Korean students for putting so much hard work into Korean Culture Day. It's the best time of the year! :)

Video of most of the event was captured, but may not be uploaded. I'm not sure how the people on video would feel about me sharing the videos online.

I'm also having considerable difficulty finding video editing software. I'm in Windows 7 and my cam records in .MOV, so Movie Maker is not an option. The software that came with the cam is pretty bad and will only save in 4:3 formats. While I can transcode from one format to the other, that's just one extra step of compression that makes the video worse, and in-and-of itself certainly doesn't stitch everything together into one video.

Korean Fan Dance - 2009 Korean Culture Day Talis29 - 126 views - 3 months ago
Please lower your volume a little.

Unfortunately I didn't get the first few minutes of the fan dance because I had to change the battery in my cam. :(

This is a Korean Fan Dance that was performed during Korean Culture Day 2009 at Pittsburg State University. They worked very hard for three months to prepare for KCD, and I think that they done a very good job. The dance was beautiful!

Thanks everyone for working so hard! :D You're all awesome.

I've always particularly liked the fan dance. It's very graceful.

I apologize for the poor quality of the video. I used an Aiptek GVS in a dark room with very loud music. Also, I forgot to turn off the Auto Focus.. well, it was the first time that I used the camcorder for any "serious" recording.

Movies:
I love movies with a story, especially horror films; I really don't care for the gory movies though. Other than that, here are some great movies: The Never Ending Story, The Dark Crystal, Labyrinth, The Gremlins (all of them), The Goonies, Lengend, and all of those fantastically creative, imaginative movies. Additional movies that I liked are Memoirs of A Geisha, House of Flying Daggers, My Sassy Girlfriend, 300, and Silent Hill. It probably goes without saying that I enjoy anime, but I'm not obsessed with it. Ghost In The Shell shows & movies, Laputa: Castle In The Sky, KiKi's Delivery Service, Chobits, Claymore, Time of Eve, and many others. A couple of TV shows that I enjoy are Supernatural and Stargate: Atlantis.

Junko Iwao, Sakamoto Maaya, Lena Park, KOKIA, Lee Soo Young, Park Ji Yoon, Chihiro Onitsuka, Aoi Teshima, JPop/KPop in general - Enya, Loreena McKennitt, Delerium, Enigma, Tori Amos, Sarah McLachlan, Nightwish and some Corvus Corax, Darling Violetta, and other, similar styles.
