Talawah Journals is an offspring to Talawah Magazine. (Founded in 1994) Jamaican born Valerie Murray, who is part of the Caribbean diaspora, founded the idea. The Journal documents issues relating to reggae music and the people that gave birth to the genre. Talawah, which means to be strong and brave, was derived from ancient African dialect. The word evolved to "stalawah" and today many may be familiar with the english definitive, stalwart.
