We are not slaves, we will not allow the chains of communism to hold us back, we will not allow the seeds of war destroy our future, WE ARE TAIWAN. We are not followers, we are leaders! We are not tyrannic, we are democratic! Taiwan will always move forward, yet Taiwan has come upon possibly the ultimate enemy: China. China with the largest army in the world, with nuclear power, with a permanent seat in the United Nation, and with 1500 missiles aimed at Taiwan. China who has exploited the Tibetans, who has destoryed Dr. Sun Yat Sen's dream of democracy, China who denies Taiwan recognition. But Taiwan will move on, because Taiwan will join the UN, with your help.


One person can make a difference.

After the the Treaty of San Francisco, Taiwan entered a limbo cession (Article 2B), or :any area surrendered by treaty, where the receiving state or country (supreme authority; administrative authority) of the transfer of legal sovereignty is not specifically stated or specified." This "limbo cession" had occurred in Cuba in 1899 when Spain did not exactly state where Cuba was ceded to. So who does Taiwan belong to. Complicated answer. Taiwan is under the administration of the ROC, but is a sovereign state. In June 25, 1950, Truman stated "The attack upon Korea makes it plain beyond all doubt that communism has passed beyond the use of subversion to conquer independent nations and will now use armed invasion and war... In these circumstances the occupation of Formosa (Taiwan) by Communist forces would be a direct threat to the security of the Pacific area and to United States forces performing their lawful and necessary functions in that area. Accordingly I have ordered the 7th Fleet to prevent any attack on Formosa. The determination of the future status of Formosa must await the restoration of security in the Pacific, a peace settlement with Japan, or consideration by the United Nations." The USMG occupied Taiwan until 1979, when official ties with the ROC were cut. However, the United States could still do whatever it wanted with Taiwan. "Japan recognizes the validity of dispositions of property of Japan and Japanese nationals made by or pursuant to directives of the United States Military Government in any of the areas referred to in Articles 2 and 3." (Article 4B) This was resolved when President Truman stated that Taiwan's position was "undefined." Not only that, but the US government says "The United States believes that differences between Taipei and Beijing should be resolved by the people on both sides of the Strait themselves." Therefore, Taiwan's independence can be determined on De facto independence from the PRC. Obviously, Taiwan has become an independent nation, and was not touched once by the government of the People's Republic of China. Taiwan has been independent for 60, and is therefore a country, and should be in the UN
The United Nations knows this, yet they pretend that Taiwan does not exist; was not the purpose of the United Nations to insure peace? The UN security council is an universal right that everyone deserves! Is Taiwan an exception? The words "We the People" refer to everyone. That means the Taiwanese should be considered too. However, Taiwan cannot fight the authoritarian government of China alone; it is up to you whether twenty-three million people are seen or unseen.
