On MBC's Chuseok special 'Singers and Trainees' that aired on the 13th, veteran artists and trainees paired up for some fun competition. Out of all the contestants, it was Wheesung's trainee, Ailee, who took 1st place and captured the attention of netizens and the viewers.
During the first round, Ailee impressed with her sexy yet soulful rendition and choreography of Usher's "My Boo", featuring Wheesung. With her powerful vocals and stage manners, it was quite hard to believe that she is still an amateur. Additionally, Ailee received high praises from the judges during the second round with her version of Beyonce's "Halo".
One of the judges, BMK praised, "I think you could become a superb top star wherever you go."
Ailee, once again, showed off her singing ability during the 3rd round, with her performance of In Soon Ee's "Night by Night", securing the 1st place title.
