i'm a musician approximately the same age as Mehldau, though not nearly as developed in my jazz concept. I saw him with Christopher Holliday in Cleveland, OH when we were both 19 or 20 years old, like 1989 or 1990. He was swinging, sounding like a solid jazz piano player, but not nearly like the deep thing he has going now. Just shows you we're all human, and we all com,e from somewhere.
