This site focuses on the current AIHL Bears team and season, but it is open to all current and past Players, Officials and Supporters of the Sydney/Penrith Bears Ice Hockey team...both from the Superleague years to the current AIHL.
Background:
The Bears are a semi-professional ice hockey team in the Australian Ice Hockey League (AIHL). The team plays its home games at the Penrith Ice Palace in Penrith, New South Wales. The team previously played at Macquarie Center and the Sydney Ice Arena in Baulkham Hills but announced they would move to Penrith for the 2007 AIHL season.
Currently there are 7 teams in the AIHL: Bears, Adelaide Adrenaline, Canberra Knights, Gold Coast BlueTongues, Melbourne Ice, Newcastle Northstars and West Sydney Ice Dogs.
The Bears are twice winners of the Goodall Cup, winning the AIHL Championships in 2002 against Adelaide and in 2007 against Newcastle with a thrilling 3-2 OT win in their home rink.
