We NEVER got to see Ali in his REAL prime! That period was taken from him. Would Marciano have given the post exile Ali a tough fight? By all means, yes. Would have have touched the pre-exile Ali during his prime? Probably not.

That was Norton well after Ali was in his real prime that, sadly, nobody really had an opportunity to see. My best guess is that Ali would either have stopped Marciano on cuts or decisioned him over 12 rounds. Had it gone to 15, then MAYBE Rocky would have had a chance, but I seriously doubt it.

Playing may evolve to different styles, but that doesn't necessarily make for better players. I have yet to see ANY drummer with the speed and dexterity of Buddy Rich. As Joe Morello once remarked, "the man was a genius."

I agree with that. Even Roger Waters and Dave Gilmour put aside their differences for Live 8. And, unlike the Beatles, those guys really despise each other.

There is nobody, and I mean NOBODY technically better than Buddy Rich. To me, he got better with age.

Uh, no he didn't. Ali hit Chuvalo five times to every one shot he took. George stood in front of him and was an easy target. Bonavena was more difficult to hit because of his awkward style.

A real champion fights all top contenders, as Ali and Louis did.

Similar, but different. Borg had to put an exagerated backswing to achieve the topspin, due to the wooden racquet. Roger's backswing was far more compact simply because the racquet head does most of the work.
