Sweetddy brings his heartfelt brand of hip hop to iTunes

VIRGINIA, June 2009—Grant Sweet, or Sweetddy, as hes known to fans of his lyrical hip hop music, can trace his passion for music back to his early childhood. Now Sweetddy is bringing his rap and hip hop tunes to a wider audience, releasing his music on iTunes through his own production company, Sweetddy Productions, and playing live in New York and Virginia.

Grant Sweet credits his early interest in music to his mothers abilities in piano and guitar and a passionate second-grade teacher. Grant began writing poetry at the age of 11, and while going through a nasty divorce at the age of 26, he found his combined passion for words and music offered the perfect outlet for his emotional pain. Grant began honing his craft and performing in coffee shops, and he founded Sweetddy Productions in 1996.

Sweetddy writes music and lyrics, produces, and plays keyboard for all of his own material. He says most of the stuff that I write comes from the heart, and that passion is particularly evident in dark, emotional, politically and socially relevant songs like I Dont Know and Survive the Game. Sweetddys other offerings include melodic, romantic, seductive tunes (Be With You Tonight and Wont You Come and Be Mine), strong rhythm and wordplay (Mr. Damager), and party anthems that would be at home in any nightclub (Get Your Freak On).

In addition to Grants own music, Sweetddy Productions features Grants son, Austin Trevor Sweet, or young Trev. Young Trev, also a hip hop artist, writes his own lyrics, and his father produces his music.

Sweetddys music has received airplay on Miami radio station 97.3 The Coast and Virginias Z104 FM, while Grant Sweet himself has starred in five episodes of A&Es Cold Case Files. In March and April 2009, Sweetddy Productions released three of Grants songs on iTunes—Forever and a Day, Dont Wanna Be Alone, and Get Money Die Rich! The release has been a huge success, with more than 11,000 downloads, and Sweetddy plans to release three more songs: Get Your Freak On, Misplaced (by young Trev), and Mr. Damager (by Sweetddy featuring Drama).

Sweetddy will be performing in Virginia on June 7th (at Club Avanti) and June 9th (at Central 111) and in New York on June 26th.
