every passing morn
bear is in the orchard
eatin' apples off the ground
never even climbs a tree
smartest bear around
bear goes to the garden
no cabbage left for slaw
even eats the turnips
there oughta be a law
bear is in the backyard
pullin' down my vines
inhales all the muscadines
now I shall have no wine
found him dozing on the deck
midnight at my house
and even though it's autumn,
I feel like Burns' mouse

I live in the Appalachian Mountains of Virginia in a very rugged and isolated area called the Blue Ridge. It is beautiful and quietly majestic here with only the sounds of the creek, the birds and the wind for company. It's perfect.
