About this user
Susie Brown, the lead singer of the country music duo the JaneDear girls, is an all around American girl. Growing up in the mountain west, she started playing her fiddle at the tender age of 4. She can't remember a time she wasn't pickin', pluckin' or strummin'. She plays five instruments including the fiddle, mandolin, guitar, bass and accordion. Susie attributes her passion and musical success to her mother who passed away after losing her courageous battle with cancer when Susie was 16 years old. Her mother was the driving force behind Susie's musical talents. Waking her up before school to practice her fiddle and taking her to all her lessons, her mother always sacrificed her own needs for Susie's music. "My mom believed in me and encouraged me everyday to go for my dreams and never give up" says Susie. After her mom passed away, Susie's heart kept yearning to live the dream her mom so lovingly instilled in her, and she decided to pack up her car with all of her instruments and move to music city. Soon after arriving she began playing the fiddle for a local singer songwriter and she also was a background singer and instrumentalist for artists such as Shannon Brown and Trisha Yearwood. One night after playing a gig in Nashville at a local club she met Danelle Leverett who was an aspiring song-writer. They exchanged numbers and a few days later met to write a song. Both had their instruments in their car and after spending just a few moments singing their first song for their friend Kris Bergsnes could tell the girls had a special bond. There was an instant connection and after that night both decided to become a duo. They soon caught the attention of John Rich who helped them sign a deal with Warner Music Nashville and he later produced their self titled album "The JaneDear Girls." Their debut album was released on February 1st 2011. For the past 6 years the JaneDear girls have hit the road a took every opportunity that came their way. Writing hundreds of songs and singing and playing for anyone who'd listen. Susie Brown co-wrote the first single "Wildflower" that peaked at #14 on the country charts and their video went #1 on the GAC top 20 countdown. They are currently promoting their new single "Shotgun Girl" and are also on tour with Jason Aldean. They are nominated for their first two ACM awards for best new duo or group & best duo.
Not only is Susie Brown a talented singer, songwriter and performer; she has also been recognized for her fashion. "I grew up watching old, black-and-white movies with my mother," said Brown. "She was always in love with all the vintage, fitted fashion of the 40s and 50s, so it rubbed off on me. I've always liked the tailored styles of the 40s, and I collect a lot of vintage cowgirl boots."
