This is the Safeway store that sat in Winnipeg, Manitoba on the corner of Ellice Avenue and Wall Street for the past 44 years. I patronized this store almost exclusively the past 32 years. I nourished two children from it's shelves and coolers while they learned how to behave in public. This style of building is now down to only one or two still operating as Safeway stores here in Winnipeg. Music by Ian and Sylvia followed by Son Volt.

Some birdwatchers identified this from my camcorder viewer as a Merlin. This was shot a few blocks from downtown Winnipeg after I heard a racket in the backlane and saw the birds on top of a telephone pole. The raptor flew to another pole before flying to a bungalow roof and then to a tree limb. I think it's prey was a jay judging by it's squawking before landing on the roof and the one good glimpse of it on the limb. Sorry for shakiness I was pretty far out on the zoom.
