Korean guitarist Sungmin Shin is a student of James Smith at the University of Southern California, where he is pursuing his Bachelors Degree in Music Performance. At USC, he receives additional instruction from world-renowned artists such as Scott Tennant and William Kanengiser of the Los Angeles Guitar Quartet, as well as Brian Head and Maestro Pepe Romero. He has also performed in the masterclasses of world-class guitarists, including Oscar Ghiglia, Alvaro Pierri, Roland Dyens, and Benjamin Verdery. Sungmin is a recipient of numerous scholarships and awards. Most recently, he was a prize winner in the LA ASTA/Green Competition. This summer, he will be studying with Sharon Isbin at the Aspen Music Festival and School on a full scholarship.
