One of the best of the covers! So much heart in this performance, and what a nice collection of traditional instruments. Doncha think Jer is smiling big time right about now. And for those of us still kicking, it sure looks like maybe this music is going to be around for a long time to come.

I have always thought this Scarlet was (heaven forbid!) the "Best Ever." I had a cassette tape of it early on in the mid 80s and loved the dynamics and the way they moved into Touch of Grey at the last minute. Furthur in a month; can't wait. (But yes, we will always miss Jerry and Pigpen!)

Few bands can combine the energy and snarl of garage rock and the delicacy and emotion of balladry. This band can do that. What I especially love is that the three guitar players know intuitively (and I suspect through trial and error as well) how to play in separation--they never stomp on each...

I was at this show and they cut some of Mike Schrieve's solo out of this. Santana had one of the best performances of all bands at Woodstock, right up there with Sly Stone and the Who. I went back to Bethel this past summer and the site has a holy aura. What a time!

Like the Greek god Mercury, QMS burned across the sky, brighter than all the other Golden Gate bands, and then they were gone. I discovered new worlds listening to this song in my freshman dorm room in 1969. . . Love is life, and Quicksilver will live forever.

@dmorin74 (I saw them 3 times last fall; best show was in a little club in Providence. They played the Dead's "Ripple" and a bunch of their other stuff for 2 hrs straight. I don't know anyone who plays BETTER than BTS.

Somehow it seems fitting that this band would play this tune. I can't think of a lot of other bands who would do this song justice, not so much from the musical standpoint, but from the standpoint of sharing a similar ethos and culture.
