I composed this piece in 1999-2000 for People of the Squares using a guitar, piano, and eventually, my PMA5 sequencer (because I couldn't play all ...   more I composed this piece in 1999-2000 for People of the Squares using a guitar, piano, and eventually, my PMA5 sequencer (because I couldn't play all the guitar and keyboard parts in real time). The tune started out as a skeleton, then took a new life as Ben Maney (keyboard), Jeremy Carriger (bass), and Zane Turnure (guitar) started working with me on it.

Needless to say, it evolved in several sections thanks to Ben, Jeremy, and Zane. I think this song was a breakthrough for all of us as musicians and an ensemble. Credit to Zane for inventing the title of this piece.   less

T...   more Zane Turnure composed this before he moved to Knoxville in 1999. We formed People of the Squares (PotS) within a couple of months of his arrival. This was one of three initial compositions that he submitted to what would be the most intense forum that I had been a part of. PotS acted as a vehicle for us to create music with total disregard for popular appeal. My theory at the time was, Just let it be what it is—pure and honest. I am glad that we had that attitude because it unlocked some amazing musical moments.
