On November 29, 2010, Jiménez was murdered in Coyoacán, Mexico City. According to witnesses Jiménez and a female companion were sitting in a car, when they were approached by an unknown individual who, without saying a word, fired four shots at him, before fleeing the scene. Paramedics pronounced Jiménez dead on the scene, while his companion was left unhurt
