Human Rights Watch called western media coverage of the events in South Ossetia as propaganda and disinformation.
According to Independent and Russian Government sources, nearly 35 thousand people, including 10 thousand children, were forced to leave their homes, finding shelter on the territory of the Russian Federation.

About Me:

Military during the 2008 Russian -- Georgian conflict in South
Ossetia. And was one of the first foreign journalists to gain
unrestricted access to the area. During the conflict Tim reported
for Skynews and Fairfax media. He has also worked as a political
analyst in the Parliament House Press Gallery, Canberra, Researcher
at the Australian National University's (ANU) School of Business and
Economics, and journalist with Australian Associated Press (AAP) and
the Canberra Times. Since returning to Australia, Tim has been
researching and analyzing the causes of the conflict, the conduct of
the conflict and its implications on the South Ossetia population.
