I place primary importance on an epic sound, usually at high speeds, primarily due to my roots. To be stuck with just quater notes, eight notes and 16th notes creates a feeling that's alien. When I hear players break free of that; that's what sounds astral to me. It's expressive and I find that I want to hear it over and over again. It's almost like this type of playing posseses some sort of life-giving property that, every time you hear it, you hear something new about it.

The lyrics often treats epic, cosmological or metaphysical themes. Many songs draw inspiration from religion and mythology, and science fiction and fantasy and they tend to be more optimistic than most other lyrics.
