I used to be an insurance agent and the main reason men pay more has nothing to do with severity of accidents. When rates were being determined back in the day women were mainly housewives and did not drive. Since majority of drivers were men, they tended to have to pay more. This is not the case...

@jrjr8619 Steven is a rare case, only about 10% of those afflicted live more than ten years. Generally 70% live only 3 years after onset, and 20% 5 years. And don't forget the level of medical tech back then.
