About stmcgarret
From infancy I was raised in the religion of Roman Catholicism as it was the religion of my forefathers. Baptized as a babe, catechized from priests and nuns through High School, an altar boy, confirmed and even married as a Roman Catholic, Catholicism was all I ever knew growing up.
Yet in spite of all my religious training and education the Bible was to me an enigmatic book that I neither understood nor cared to understand. Rather, I had my Sunday religion where I had to punch the clock every Sunday for an hour or hopefully less, and then, once this was out of the way, I could go back to my life living not unlike my non-religious peers as I reveled in sin and vice.
Because the truth of the matter is that even though I faithfully attended to the obligations of Catholicism, my life bore ample witness to the truth that I was a sinner dead in trespasses and sins. The same being true for my Catholic friends, school mates and family members who were no different at heart than I and none the better than our infidel neighbors.
Why this was so I did not understand until many years later when I opened up the Scriptures and actually started to read and slowly understand them. And as I read and gained insight to their teachings, I came to see I was in a grave state in spite of what the priests and nuns told me. I was in fact lost; a sinner and in need of salvation. I also found that so much of the doctrine I was taught as a Catholic was found nowhere in the pages of the Bible.
This led me to leave and forsake the Roman Catholic church and to eventually repent of my sins and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ alone for salvation. Much more I could write and welcome any questions from serious seekers.
