It would have been easy to make a succesful aircraft that got near the speed of sound, rather than going past it. Why go supersonic? You don't save much time unles you're doing a thousand mile trip, most of the time lost in flight is lost on the ground.

Removing the IR filter doesn't spoil the focus as such, it allows IR to enter the lens, but IR is longer wavelength than visible light, so it isn't bent as much in the lens and you get an IR image on top (almost) of the visible version, so the image looks blurred because they don't coincide.

I have these in my bathroom for mood.

Sound is not as good as the real thing, when the 'plane is there in front of you, you can usually hear the whine of the supercharger.
