About Me:

Hello there, welcome to the channel. I enjoy a plethora of unrelated bits and bobs. I am especially fond of Philosophy, along with Intellectual and medieval history. I also love library music, old soul records and my mate Stu Fairweathers' blues channel (highly recommended!), and my mate WhoStoleMyJacket's prog and jazz channel (awesome!). In addition I like a bit of motorsport (actually an unrepentant Senna aficionado),comedy, and 60s TV, so you'll find all of the above in my favorites. I respectfully request that any comments left be kept clean and gracious.
Enjoy perusing the channel!

Jonathan :)

Book worm
Schools:
University of Sussex
Interests:
Reading. Eating. Walking. Reflection. Badminton (only on Thursdays mind) Philosophy. Cathedrals (strangely) and flagrantly winding people up!
Music:
Invariably from the 19th & 20th Centuries. 21st Century music has been a bit of a disappointment so far.
Books:
Mostly Philosophy, ancient Greeks to the German Idealists, Kant, Hegel, phenomenologists Heidegger, Levinas, nutters, Schopenhauer, Nietzsche, modern nutters, Zizek, Agamben, etc for the main, but like a broad range of Analytic and Continental. Shakespeare, Anglo-Saxon and Nordic literature, Dahl, fair bit!

Thanks for your comment on my channel and for your diplomacy. I wonder though how you yourself interpret the thought of Heidegger ? Is it religious or atheistic thinking ? Is it perhaps thinking which is religious but not in any conventional sense ? It confronts head on the question about "the nothing" and in this way it comes into direct contact with theology. I know better than anyone (to my frustration) that my attempts to express my understanding of Heidegger are inadequate. But I am trying to put it into my own words. I do not see the whole issue as being "science v.philosophy". Actually I still regard science as philosophy - albeit uprooted philosophy. The cleverer we get the less we understand ....
