Hi. I just brought home a new baby rat a few days ago. And I wish I had seen your videos first! Our cage opens from the top and I always just picked her up. She will let me hold her, pet her and she will take treats and food from me but shes kind of all over the place... I feel like shes trying to get away. And shes so fast! I just want to build a relationship with her and I want her to trust me. Can I fix what I did wrong???

Thanks crystina99 however i do not feed my rats chocolate lol what made you think that?

please dont feed chocolate to your rats or to any animal in general! also they dont need sugars, simply use rice crispies! <3 <3 <3

Hello, I really like your videos of taming rats. I recently got a pet rat bit it turns out that she is sick. I did not want to take her back so I am trying to treat this illness but I think she does not feel well and this has not been good for trying to tame and socialize her. She is scared always. She likes to nip. I was wondering if you have advice on how to handle nipping? I move slowly, and try not to scare her and talk softly and use treats and try not to force any contact. I think her sneezing and wheezing has effected her personality as she does not feel good. But I try to make her comfortable and warm, plenty food and water. I love rats and want so much for her to like us too. I wanted to get her a companion but not until she is better. Thank you for any advice.

And the ratties are living fine together! Although with the end of the year I was so busy studying for finals that I didn't have much time for interactions with them, and they're a little shadey right now! But that'll go away soon (:

I just decided to contact you to ask you a question. My new rat, Lancelot, is a ball of fire and never runs out of energy. I have given him tissues to chase and use for bedding, but I don't know how else to entertain him. Could you give me a few suggestions for playing with him?

This will most likely be the last time I write on your site, so first off I want to apologize for being a nusence. Anyway, I just thought that you should know that Lysander died on April 5, 2010 after having a stroke. For humane reasons, we were forced to put him down. He was able to come home for the last time and my family had a funeral for him. A few days later, we adopted our new rat, Lancelot. I just wanted to let you know and to thank you for all the help in giving my baby comfort in his last weeks.
