Chaotic Lucidity Spectrogram

real time spectrogram for

Chaotic Lucidity 14:47 (2001)

The piece is concerned with order and chaos in a number of contexts, each one related to an archetypal mode of existence. It is also about unity and time, about energy transformations and exchange, complexity and unpredictability contained in something simple.

It is also about structuring of information. Words like water, sand, air, people or cars are simple concepts. We understand what they mean in terms of very few characteristic general properties, although we can have gigabytes of related information about each one of them. Simple concepts are normally standing for zillions of individual shapes made by complex interactions and they trigger individual images, thoughts and emotions when they are being experienced. Everything around us can be seen as structured like that and the way we think, communicate and create takes some really involved way of structuring information for granted. Chaotic Lucidity is a piece about free association.

Mention at the Bourges International Electroacoustic Competition, 2002.
2nd prize at Jeu de Temps, CEC Composition Contest, 2003.
CD: Cache 2003 CA+UK
