James 2:14-18 "What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him?
If a brother or sister has nothing to wear and has no food for the day,
and one of you says to them, "Go in peace, keep warm, and eat well," but you do not give them the necessities of the body, what good is it?
So also faith of itself, if it does not have works, is dead.
Indeed someone might say, "You have faith and I have works." Demonstrate your faith to me without works, and I will demonstrate my faith to you from my works." Visitors to the Catholic Mass may be surprised to find us reading from the bible. We believe that Christ is present in His word since it is He Himself who speaks when the holy Scriptures are read in Church,----------------------- ------------------------------ ------------------------------ ------------- I recommend the following Catholic Artists and their music : Catholic singers:Michael John Poirier http://www.holyfamilynow.com and Karl Kohlhase http://www.k4communications...

I appreciate your explanation. That clears up that issue for me...but with due respect, bowing down before the cross might not be worshiping but it seems excessive to me. (I'm not a believer so perhaps all of this seems excessive to me...I apologize). But, you have sufficiently answered my question and I thank you for that.

Catholics do not worship statues, because only God is deserving of adoration. The Catechism of the Catholic Church is adamant in affirming this (CCC 21122114). When a Catholic bows to a statue, he is not worshiping it any more than King Solomon worshiped Bathsheba when he bowed to her in 1 Kings 2:19. In other words, the honor given to images does not detract from the honor that is due to God. After all, if one member of the body is honored, the others should share in its joy (1 Cor 12:26).

If someone enters your house, he should expect to find a picture of your mother. So, when someone walks into a Catholic Church—the household of God—he should not be surprised to find a picture of the mother of God, along with the rest of the heavenly family!

I have always wondered why the catholic church and it's adherents so flagrantly violate the second commandment??? Seems to me bowing down before a carved image like a cross or a likeness of Mary is purely heretical. I would love an explanation of this please. Of course this is just one of MANY questions I would like answers to. i don't single out catholics by the way.

She crushed Satan's head by carrying Jesus Christ in her holy body, by raising him, by simply being the Mater Dei and this very day she continues to fight for Christendom. She holds back her Son's arm of wrath because he is so angry with people today. Soon, she will not be able to hold it back any longer. And, by the way, don't you have pictures of your family and friends in your home? Usually if you honour someone, don't you want to look at his picture?
