Under the Auto Pact with the U.S., Canada built Ford, Chrysler and GM automobiles and they were of the same low quality as the U.S. built ones. Now after all these years they are as safe and well built as a foreign auto of equal price. I still buy Canadian-American products instead of foreign. I also try to purchase goods manufactured in Canada over foreign products. Only makes sense as it helps the economy.

Before the foreign automobiles arrived on our shores, America and Canada built shitty cars that lasted 3-5 years. The foreigners forced us to build decent auto's and I'm a former auto worker.

Kinda gets back to the shareholders doing with a little less and paying a fair wage to the workers so that the manufacturing is done over here. It's shipped over there so that the low wages mean higher profits.
