About this user
Hello everyone,I'm a metalhead/rock fan from Thessaloniki Greece. My favourite hobbie and main interest is music. As you can tell from my nickname,I'm a Maiden freak, hehe! They were the ones who got me into this music 7 years ago.Since then,I've listened to almost everything(from the more commercial symphonic, melodic, atmospheric and power metal bands to the more extreme death, grind, doom and black metal genres)and Maiden are still first in my heart!I'm mostly into the 8O'S metal sound but I keep track with new bands/genres-my favourite are melodeath/meloblack,atmospheric and progressive death/black metal bands from Scandinavia(In Flames,Dark Tranquility,At The Gates,Arch Enemy,Children Of Bodom,Dimmu Borgir,Cradle Of Filth,Opeth,Amorphis,Amon Amarth,Soilwork,Kalmah,Norther,Ensiferum, Hypocrisy and many many more-I always discover newones)I also love old school cult/underground thrash metal bands(Mortal Sin,Flotsam&Jetsam,Coroner,Vio-Lence,Sacrifice,Artillery,Dark Angel,Death Angel,Blind Illusion,Onslaught,Forbidden,Whiplash etc.),the NWOAHM bands like Trivium,Lamb Of God,Chimaira,Shadows Fall,God Forbid,Killswitch Engage,Unearth,As I Lay Dying...and finally all the epic folk/viking metal bands with power/neoclassical/symphonic metal elements in their music(they are too many to write them all down) THE ANCIENT MACEDONIANS WERE GREEKS BECAUSE:
1)They spoke/wrote greek-there are dozens of greek inscriptions/engravings(more than 5000 years old)in almost every ancient relic/artifact(stones,tablets,columns,tombs,temples,armor/weapons,coins,pottery etc)found in macedonian land. 2)Their names(including that of Alexander and his father Phillip)were greek-they have meaning/explanation only in greek language.for example:Alexander=alexein+andras=defender of men,Phillip=philos+ippos=friend of horses3)They worshiped the greek pantheon(the 12 olympian gods)-there are dozens of statues, temples, altars etc to prove that4)They were among the participants in the famous olympic games(Phillip had won a couple of medals himself in chariot racing),which, during antiquity, were for greeks only5)The name of the land itself is purely greek:''macedonia''comes from''macednos''=tall man, since the ancient macedonians were quite tall compared to the rest of the greeks6)During the Persian Wars, although they were initialy beaten/failed to hold the Persians, they helped the rest of the greeks with supplies, equipment and information/intelligence on the enemie's plans/movements7)their armor/weaponry and famous battle tactics/formations(the macedonian phalanx)were only an improvement of the common greek classic battle formation:the phalanx of the hoplitae.the only major difference was that the macedonian spears were much longer(5-6 metres)than the average greek ones(3 metres) 8)Alexander fought for a pan-hellenic dream/cause:to take revenge from the Persians for the harm they had caused during their campaigns against Greece and to spread the greek civilization to the corners of the known world.and more than 12.000 greek allies from all over greece participated in his forces(about 30.000)9)everywhere he went,Alexander founded greek cities(15 have been found),many of which still survive today, all built according to the classic ancient greek model/city plan(a central agora,a fortified acropolis,a stadium,a gymnasium,a theater, temples devoted to the olympian gods etc)10)Alexander's teacher Aristotel was greek and he used the famous epic poems/novels of the greek poet Homer:Iliad and Odyssey to educate him-that's why Alexander's greatest rolemodels were the heroes who fought in the Trojan Wars-he always compared himself with Achilles and he payed great religious honours to his heroe's tomb in the Trojan Fields(modern northwestern Turkey)when he first set foot on Asian soil11)the modern greek language itself is nothing but a simplified form/evolution of the formal language established during Alexander's time, throughout all of his empire:the Common Alexandrian12)the famous''sun of vergina'',which was named that way after the greek town of Vergina,is a pan-hellenic symbol found in shields/armor,wall paintings, pottery, coins etc all over Greece, even as far south as Sparta13)all the major cities of ancient macedonia(Pella,Aigai,Thermae,Phillipoi,Pidna etc)and the tombs of the macedon kings(including Phillip)are in greek soil
