About this user

I love video games. A lot. They've been a part of my life ever since I received an NES when I was just two years old.

I also love video. I have a BFA in Film & TV with a focus in Editing. Wouldn't it be great if these two ideas could merge?

And so StephenPlays is born! With my passion for both video and games, I play through some of my favorite games and keep you entertained with my chatter along the way.

My Vlog audience already know the joys of being a Stephenite—you can too! Except, you know, with games.

A: If you're a PC gamer, search the Steam community section for "StephenVlog" and join the group. We play other games with fans as well, and times are always announced on the vlog.

Q: Equipment?
A: Hackintosh - i7 920, 12gb 1600mhz RAM, 9800gtx+ running OS X Snow Leopard. For console games I use a Black Magic Intensity Pro. All LPs are recorded with Sennheiser PC151 headsets. Mac recordings are done with Screenflow, Windows with Fraps and Audacity. I do all editing in Final Cut Pro 7.

Q: Do you respond to messages and comments?
A: Yes! I read every single comment you guys leave me, and I'll respond whether it's a comment, message, Formspring, Twitter or Facebook question. I'm incredibly easy to reach.

Q: Are there times you won't respond?
A: I generally don't respond to channel comments, and I won't respond to messages that ask me to check out your channel/video. I don't mind answering questions, but I'm super ultra busy so please take that into consideration. With that in mind, please don't ask me something you can figure out yourself—I'm a last resort, and Google is your friend.

Q: What's your advice for a new LPer?
A: Official StephenPlays "Start LPing" Tips™: Start with a shorter game (less than 5 hours) that you know very well and love. Keep your episodes shorter (under 10 minutes). These combined will make it easier to commentate and also ensure you finish your first LP completely. Other than that, keep at it and make sure you're having fun—if you're not, the audience will definitely be able to tell, so definitely choose a game you enjoy!
