About this user

Stephanie Jones has been playing and performing music for many years. At present, Stephanie is studying at the prestigious Australian National University for four years, Undergraduate Honours, under the guidance of Minh Le Hoang and Tim Kain, as well as playing saxophone and flute in the Big Band with John Mackey and undertaking jazz guitar lessons with Aaron Lyon.
At 18 years, she has won over 40 awards at WA Eisteddfods and been part of numerous concerts including gala and winners performances, recitals and community events. She has also participated and won at national and international competitions including the Sydney Eisteddfod McDonalds Performing Arts Festival, and the Asian International Guitar Festival in Bangkok. Early in 2010 she auditioned for and was selected as one of the top 16 to compete in the very prestigious Adelaide International Guitar Festival Classical Guitar Competition. Also, as part of the Methodist Ladies College Jazz Band, Stephanie played at the Montreaux Jazz Festival in July 2008.

In 2009 Stephanie completed her Diploma exam for the Associate Board of the Royal Schools of Music and also her AMEB AMusA Exam. Stephanie also has completed her first classical guitar CD, Bach the Fly and the Microphone. Stephanie also performed and promoted her CD on ABC radio with Bernadette Young and was on WA Stateline with Eliza Blue and also ABC radio again with Russell Woolf.
Last year Stephanie also toured in China with the Combined High School Jazz Ensemble. She was one of 9 High School students that were selected as part of a cultural exchange group to represent W.A. at the Shanghai World Expo 2010. Stephanie was also part of the WAYJO Swing Band and Big Band for two years.
In 2010 Stephanie was also awarded the Royal Schools Anniversary Scholarship and the Harmony Endowment Undergraduate Scholarship to study at the Australian National University in 2011. Stephanie hopes to have a career in music performance and to be able share her love of music with others.
