Good Question about using a Volume Pedal. If one Must Use one of those Floor Pedals - GoodRich is a steel Guitar Version. That Said here is the way we do it. WE DO NOT use any Floor Volume Pedal -- it is all done with the Right and Left Hand Technique.

What you are doing is an Un-Trained Steel Imitation Gimmick. Commonly this is used to mask poor picking and muting(Blocking) Technique often with the player not even realizing they are doing this.

Many professional Pedal Steel Players will use a floor volume and train them selves to only use it for subtle volume changes.
Learning to use only he hands is the way nearly all of the good non pedal players go about playing.

Hello again..Carl here in Canada.I am presently trying a volume pedal by Erine Ball,The VPJR. I am finding that i only have about 1/8-1/4 inch from full volume to no volume.I would like to find a pedal that gives me a fair amout of movement when i want to use it to swell the notes..HELP....
