About The Steamboat Minnehaha
The Minnehaha was once in a fleet of seven steamboats that provided fast and reliable transportation for the residents of Lake Minnetonka as part of the Twin City Rapid Transit Company. Today she is maintained and operated by The Museum of Lake Minnetonka, a non-profit, all-volunteer organization based out of Excelsior, Minnesota.
Minnehaha began service in 1906 and transported thousands of passengers over a period of twenty years. But, due to the popularity of automobiles, the company decided to scuttle the Minnehaha and several of her sisters to the bottom of the lake in 1926.
There she sat for fifty-four years until a team of divers raised her back to the surface. After an extensive restoration, Minnehaha returned to service in 1996 and has operated on Lake Minnetonka every season since.
You can enjoy the experience of riding aboard the Minnehaha on weekends and holidays throughout the summer and autumn seasons. Ticket fares are $10 for adults and $5 for children.
