Great performance. This was first recorded by Brinsley Schwartz Band when Nick Lowe was still a wee lad, however; Elvis's version (on Armed Forces) was much later.

I just ran accross this video. I'm really imprssed. The winjing over vibrato/no vibrato is silly: are we not supposed to listen to Gould because he recorded Bach on a 20th century grand piano?
Congratulations and thanks; I thought this was terrific.

I grew up in LA in the 60s/70s. Little Feat, Ry Cooder, David Lindley, Linda Ronstadt, Jackson Browne, Van Dyke Parks bumped into each other all the time. Both Lowell George (on "Roalita" and Jacson Browne used Arthur Gerst as the harpist. I believe Arthur Gerst was a ...

I grew up in LA in the late 60s and saw Ry around as well as Lindley when he was in Kaleidescope. I thought I was pretty familiar with both of their work. This blew me away Does anyone know where and when this concert took place? I'd give an awful lot to play a hundredth as well as either of them.

I have no idea what the first rock and roll song was, or the effects of racism's impact on popular culture. I do know, however, that this song rocks. I particularly like Ike's piano work and Raymond Hill's smoking sax.
